Ahmedabad, in the Gujarat region of India, is a troubled city. Once home to the ideas of Rajiv Gandhi, it has more recently suffered appalling communal violence. In MEMORIES OF MILK CITY, director Ruchir Joshi juxtaposes contemporary images - a small boy peddling ice cream on the street, young men who've gathered to ogle young women - with verse read by Madhu Rye to create a powerful mosaic.
