In Qaanaag, near the American military base of Thule in the northernmost part of Greenland, there is ice on the fjord until July. Here, food is supplied by traditional hunting, especially of the narwhale.

HUNTERS AT THE ICE FRONT follows a group of hunters on a four-day dog sled expedition. Once at the ice front, they hunt the narwhale as they come up for air through cracks in the ice. The animal is valued not only for sustenance but for a large tooth - resembling the mythical unicorn's horn - which protrudes from the males' heads and which can sell for up to $800. An engaging peek back at the old Inuit culture and lifestyle.
